AppWT manuals across Australia

Australia sits further from Michigan than any other market AppWT publishes into, and the distance shows up in exactly one place that matters: the clock. Because delivery is automated, it stops mattering immediately. The rest of this page covers the clock, the paper and the currency, and is honest about where American material does not apply.

The clock, and why it stops being a problem

Australian business hours run between 12 and 16 hours ahead of Michigan once the state and the daylight saving season are taken into account, which spans Western Australia through to New South Wales and Tasmania. For anything handled by a person, that gap means a full day lost on every exchange. Delivery here is not handled by a person. The PDF arrives attached to the confirmation email, and a separate email carries a secure download link that stays live for 30 days. Both are released automatically when the payment clears, so a Tuesday afternoon purchase in Brisbane is a Tuesday afternoon delivery in Brisbane.

Paper, and the one setting to change

The pages are set on US Letter, 8.5 by 11 inches, or 216 by 279 millimetres. Australia uses A4, at 210 by 297 millimetres, so the American sheet is a little wider and noticeably shorter than the paper already loaded. Printing a long manual on the default setting will leave the margins wrong. Choosing scale to fit in the print dialogue is the whole fix. Anyone reading on a screen can ignore this entirely.

The printed edition, and the one place the clock still counts

The instant release described above covers the PDF. A paperback is a real object, so it cannot be released instantly to anyone. Selected titles are sold as a printed edition built to one house specification: US Letter, 8.5 by 11 inches, roughly 216 by 279 millimetres, premium black and white on 80 pound coated white stock with a glossy cover. It is the same sheet the pages were laid out on, so nothing is scaled, and it arrives a little wider and shorter than the A4 an Australian shelf is used to. Length makes no difference to the binding: every title is a perfect bound paperback. It ships to Australia, one of the four countries the printed edition is sold into.

Distance usually punishes a physical order twice over, once in transit and once in the wait before anything useful arrives. Here it only costs the first. Every printed order carries the PDF with it, and the file is released as soon as the payment clears, so a reader in Hobart or Broome is working from the manual the same afternoon and the paperback becomes the second copy rather than the only one. Short titles have no print option at all: a spine needs bulk, and anything under 32 pages cannot take one.

Two numbers this page refuses to invent. How long a parcel takes to reach an Australian address, and how GST or import handling falls on a book arriving from overseas. AppWT sets neither, and a reader scheduling a team rollout around a made up date would be worse served than by silence. What is knowable appears on the payment page: the amount, confirmed before payment, and the delivery address, which that page collects and validates.

Currency

Checkout is denominated in US dollars, so an Australian card is authorised in US dollars and the issuing bank applies its own conversion. No Australian dollar figure is advertised anywhere on this site, because AppWT does not set that rate and could not honour a number it does not control.

What transfers, and what does not

The method in these manuals is not country specific. Writing a procedure so somebody else can run it, testing it against a real shift rather than an imagined one, and handing it over without the owner standing behind the counter all work identically in Perth and in Detroit. Regulation is the opposite. Employment conditions, modern awards, superannuation, tax and statutory record keeping are written to American rules throughout the library, and an Australian operator should verify every one of those against local obligations before turning a page of a manual into workplace policy.

States and territories on file

These are the parts of Australia where AppWT holds researched detail on individual cities. Christmas Island, the Cocos Keeling Islands, Norfolk Island and the Jervis Bay Territory are recognised in the store at the regional level and so carry no city count below.

Common questions

Does the time difference delay an Australian order?

No. Australian business hours run between 12 and 16 hours ahead of Michigan, depending on the state and on whether daylight saving is in effect at either end. Delivery is automated rather than manual, so the file is released at the moment the payment clears. A purchase made at nine in the morning in Perth does not wait for anybody in Michigan to wake up.

Will a manual print on A4?

With one adjustment. The pages are set on US Letter, 216 by 279 millimetres, and A4 is 210 by 297. Letter is slightly wider and noticeably shorter, so a default print run on Australian paper will not sit correctly. The scale to fit option in the print dialogue handles it. Reading on a screen is unaffected.

Is the material written for Australian conditions?

The operating method is universal. The regulation is not. Every title is written from Michigan to American practice, so anything covering employment conditions, awards, superannuation, tax or record keeping reflects American rules and needs checking against Australian ones before it becomes workplace policy. The procedure writing method itself transfers without modification.

What currency is charged to an Australian card?

US dollars. Checkout is denominated in US dollars for every market, so the card is authorised in US dollars and the issuing bank applies its own conversion. No Australian dollar figure is published, because that number is set by the issuer rather than by AppWT.

Which parts of Australia does AppWT hold local detail for?

Local business detail is on file for 37 cities across 8 states and territories, covering every mainland state as well as Tasmania. The external territories are held at the regional level only.
